Safeway Robbed By Knife-Wielding Suspect In Frederick Still On The Loose: State Police

A busy grocery store was robbed at knifepoint early on Friday morning in Frederick County, according to Maryland State Police.

Officials say that shortly after 8. a.m. on Friday, March 31, troopers were called to the Safeway store in the 100 block of Walkers Village Way in Walkersville to investigate a robbery that had just taken place.

The initial investigation found that an unknown robber walked into the store, went through a checkout aisle and implied that he had a knife to a cashier before taking money from the register and fleeing on foot.

No injuries were reported.

The suspect was described as being a Black man in his late 30s or early 40s standing approximately 6-foot-1. He was last seen wearing a brown mask, black hooded sweatshirt, black shoes, and brown gloves.

No additional descriptive information was provided by the police.

Maryland State Police troopers from the Criminal Enforcement Division are leading the investigation, along with a Frederick County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, though attempts to find the suspect were unsuccessful.
